China New Railway Station Opens In Hangzhou

A new railway station which can accommodate 5,300 passengers opened on December 28, 1999 in Hangzhou, capital of east China's Zhejiang province.

Construction of the station which covers 79,000 sq. m of floor space began in December 1997, and the completed facility includes a three-story plaza and an underground garage.

The railway station, involving a total investment of 700 million yuan, was built on the site of an old station, and is the largest construction project in Hangzhou involving the rebuilding of portions of the old city.
