Sports Adventurer Cross China's Lowest Point

A Chinese adventurer has successfully completed human being's first solo motorcycle crossing of the dried bed of the Aiding Lake, which is China's lowest point.

Located at the base of the Tulufan Basin of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the Aiding Lake, which means "Moonlight Lake" in Uygurian, is seated 154 meters below sea level. The lake has an area of 22 square kilometers.

Starting from the northern bank at 16:40 hour PM Friday on a motorcycle, Cui Di crossed the lake's dried-up bed to the southern bank and rode back along the same nine-kilometer route to the starting point after one hour 46 minutes. The solo crossing coincided with the last sunset of the 20th century.
