China Former Senior Chinese Official Cremated

The remains of Jiang Hua, former president of China's Supreme People's Court who died of illness last Friday in Hangzhou, capital of east China's Zhejiang Province, was cremated in Hangzhou on December 30

Entrusted by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Wei Jianxing and Luo Gan, respectively a Standing Committee member of and a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, attended a ceremony today to pay their last respects to Jiang.

President Jiang Zemin and other senior Chinese officials had shown their concern for Jiang Hua's illness when he was hospitalized, or expressed their condolences to his relatives at the time of his death.

Jiang Hua, who died at age 93, was described as "an outstanding CPC member, a long-tested proletarian revolutionary, and an outstanding political and judicial official" in an obituary issued by the central authorities.

He was also a member of the Standing Committee of the former CPC Central Advisory Commission.
