China CPPCC Leader on Public Opinion

Li Ruihuan, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), said in Beijing on December 28 that public opinion must be fully reflected in the committee's decisions.

Li made the remarks here today at a meeting with representatives to a national forum on the public information work of the CPPCC.

Li said that reporting and reflecting public opinion is one of the more creative aspects of the CPPCC's work.

For the past several years, the CPPCC has done much to truly capture public sentiment in its work, and has accumulated a lot of valuable experience in the process, Li said.

In reflecting public opinion, it is extremely important that the information is true. Otherwise, it will result in misleadings.

It is also essential that the information come solely from the general public and reflect their true desires, the CPPCC leader said.
