China Macao Fishermen Celebrate Macao's Return

Some 2,000 local fishermen launch a traditional sea cruise december 21 to mark the return of Macao to the motherland.

The cruise, involving a fleet of 33 vessels which were all decorated with national flag of China and the flag of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR), is the largest ever in Macao.

During the 2.5-hour cruise, fishermen on board kept singing patriotic songs, including the most popular song "I love you, China".

The celebration was organized by the Macao Fishermen Mutual Assistance Association which has over 4,000 members.

Macao fisherman have the tradition of loving the motherland and Macao, an official of the Association said, adding that his association spent a whole year preparing for the celebration.
