Sci-Tech Kenya to Host Telecom Exhibition

Kenya will host the East African Telecommunications and Broadcasting Exhibition & Conference in the capital Nairobi in February next year, the East African weekly said Monday.

With the theme "Telecommunications for A Region in Transition", the event will display the changes taking place in the telecommunication sector in the region and also provide a forum to introduce new products and services.

The Exhibition, organized by the African Information Technology Exhibition & Conference (Aitec), will draw companies from Britain, South Africa, Australia, the United States, India, Israel and other countries.

Harry Hare, Aitec's executive director, said that during the three-day event, experts will address conference on policy and regulatory issues, satellite services, cellular-mobile telephone, radio communications, internet linkage and infrastructure, among others.

Hare added that the exhibition is to be held at a time when the recently- established East African Community is inviting bids for a 57-million-US dollar contract for supply of a fibre-optic network to link the three member states of Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. (Xinhua)
