China Hu Jintao Urges Modernization of China's Archives Work

Chinese Vice-President Hu Jintao on December 7 called for the better management of archives through advanced means.

He made the remark while addressing deputies to the National Archives Work Conference, which opened in Beijing.

The vice-president asked Communist Party of China committees and governments at all levels to strengthen their leadership in the field and help the archives departments to play a greater role in China's modernization drive.

Some 400 archives workers, including representatives of advanced units and model archives workers, attended the conference. (Xinhua)
