Education Normal University in Guangzhou Trains Teachers for Macao

Over the past 15 years, South China Normal University in Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong Province has trained over 2,400 primary and middle school teachers for Macao, 74 percent of the region's total.

The university started its educational programs with cooperation of the Macao education department and the Chinese Education Association of Macao in 1985. The first group of 166

primary and middle school teachers in Macao received training through correspondence courses.

To date, some 2,415 Macao teachers have received higher education in a variety of fields including education and Chinese literature. Some 105 Macao teachers have received post-graduate

education in various departments in the university.
