Sci-Tech Sony To Set Science Center

The Sony Corp plans to set up a science and technology training center in Beijing for Chinese youth next year.

Sony Corp President and CEO Nobuyuki Idei said his company will join hands with the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), China International Economics and Technical Co-operation Consultants Inc and the San Francisco-based Exploratorium museum to establish 1,500-square-metre Sony ExploraScience in Beijing Oriental Plaza.

Sony and the technical consultants will form a joint venture soon to prepare for the center, according to the agreement.

Sony ExploraScience will combine interactive educational exhibits from the Exploratorium, a museum of science, art and human perception.

"The establishment of the centre will help the young people to have a better understanding of what science and technologies are," said Ding Zhongze, CCPIT secretary-general.
