World Ethiopian PM Meets Chinese Economic, Trade Delegation

Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi on December 3 expressed the belief that the relations between his country and China in trade and investment would be further strengthened in future.

At a meeting in his office with the Chinese economic and trade delegation led by Xu Bingjin, assistant minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation, Meles said that the promotion of bilateral relations has been a priority in the work of the Ethiopian Foreign Ministry.

Ethiopia is willing to further its relations with China in various fields on the basis of mutual interest, Meles said.

During the meeting, Meles appreciated the financial and technical assistance that China had offered to Ethiopia, adding that there still exists a great potential for cooperation between the two countries.

The prime minister said that Ethiopia is expecting more Chinese entrepreneurs to invest in it and to get involved in technical management in its enterprises.

Xu and his entourage arrived here on Tuesday to attend the fourth Sino-Ethiopian Joint Commission meeting.

During his three-day visit, Xu had a series of talks with Ethiopian government ministers on issues of bilateral cooperation. (Xinhua)
