Education Blind Teacher Moving University Students

A blind teacher received resounding applause from more than 800 students when she gave a lecture at the Beijing Medical University on December 1 afternoon.

Professor Yang Jia surprised the audience with her way of coping, both emotionally and physically, with her loss of sight.

Major sponsors of her lecture include the Ministry of Education and the All-China Federation of Disabled Persons. It was aimed at helping university students cultivate their love for life.

Yang Jia lost her sight 7 years ago. But she has managed to continue writing books and teaching English at the graduate school of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
