Wang Zhaoguo, vice-chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, met with a delegation from the Macao Import and Export Chamber of Commerce (MIEC) in Beijing on November 29.

Wang said Macao will return to the embrace of the motherland in 21 days, and this will be another major event in the history of China and the beginning of a new era for Macao.

He expressed the hope that Macao will maintain prosperity and stability and become a successful example of Deng Xiaoping's concept of "one country, two systems" with the support of the central government.

The MIEC has done much to promote Macao's economic and trade development since it was founded in 1965. The 30-member delegation from the MIEC arrived in Beijing yesterday at the invitation of the China Overseas Friendship Association.
