Sci-Tech Telecommunications Service Improving in Jiangsu

Telecommunications service in east China's Jiangsu Province has improved a great deal thanks to the use of modern technology.

According to local sources, the province has 4.5 million pager users, ranking second in China after Guangdong Province.

The province has so far set up 174 paging stations providing users with a variety of telecommunications business services. Guoxin Communications Ltd., the largest station, has 2.9 million pager users, taking 64 percent of the province's market in the sector.

The province started its pager service in 1985, and established an advanced paging telecommunications network in 1995 with a total investment of 200 million yuan (24.1 million US dollars).

Jiangsu has also been experimenting with a broad-based network that links its capital city Nanjing with regions outside the province.
