Business Anhui Attracts Overseas Investment for Tourism Related Products

Overseas investors are beginning to show interest in developing tourism related products in Anhui Province, according to the recently concluded 6th Anhui Provincial Tourism Commodities Fair.

More than 2,000 Chinese businesspeople and nearly 100 prospective investors from 52 overseas enterprises participated in the nine-day fair, which closed on November 21.

Contracts worth 58 million yuan were signed during the fair, and the province signed six contracts with Singapore, South Africa, as well as Hong Kong and Taiwan to develop tourism related products. These projects involve a total investment of 20 million US dollars.

Located in eastern China, Anhui has many unique local products, including brushes, ink sticks, ink slabs, and paper, products that sell well among tourists.

At present, Anhui has 14 state-level tourism commodity producing enterprises and 179 provincial-level enterprises. In 1998, the province earned 70 million dollars from exports of tourism related products.
