Business China Willing to Consider East Asia Monetary Fund

China is willing to consider the proposal to establish an East Asia Monetary Fund, Foreign Ministry spokesman Sun Yuxi said at the regular press conference on November 25 afternoon.

Asked about China's stand on the issue, Sun said China has always upheld strengthening cooperation between East Asian countries, including cooperation in the area of finance, adding that "China is ready to carefully examine any suggestion or proposal which is beneficial to safeguarding economic and financial security of East Asian countries, and building up their competitiveness, especially that of developing countries in the region."

As for specific form of cooperation, he said that "the concerned parties may conduct thorough study and coordination."
