Sci-Tech PLA Troops accept Macao Geography Database

The Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) troops to be stationed in Macao 26 days from now were presented with a database on the geography of the region on November 24 in Zhuhai city of south China's Guangdong Province.

The database was developed by scientists with the Geographic Information Industrial Development Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) using the geographic information system, remote sensing and multi-media technologies.

The database features general geographic, social and economic information about Macao, a detailed map of the region, three- dimensional topography, aerial photos, transportation routes, and statistics on distribution of urban civil works and other major institutions.

Academician Chen Yiyu, also deputy head of CAS, was in Zhuhai to make the presentation.
