China China and Kazakhstan Sign Joint Communiqu¨¦

China and Kazakhstan signed a joint communiqu¨¦ in Beijing on November 23 on the complete resolution of all border issues between the two countries.

Chinese President Jiang Zemin and visiting Kazakhstan President Nursultan Abishevich Nazarbayev signed on the document on behalf of the two governments.

The heads of State of China and Kazakhstan pointed out that under the border agreement signed by the two countries in April 26, 1994, the supplementary border agreements in September 24, 1997 and July 4, 1998, all border issues between China and Kazakhstan have been resolved completely which will contribute to the development of friendly bilateral relations, and peace and stability in the region.

Border lines between the two countries have been clearly demarcated. China and Kazakhstan will continue working on relevant legal documents to end all border demarcations.

China and Kazakhstan are willing to hold consultations on a number of important issues including border management systems and transportation to facilitate stability and cooperation on these borders.
