Business Guangdong Province Builds New Expressway

Chinese workers have been constructing Dianbai-Zhanjiang Expressway in south China's Guangdong Province.

According to local sources, the expressway starts from Poxin in Dianbai County, Maoming City and ends at Huanglue, Suixi County in Zhanjiang Port.

The expressway will run 82.3 km with four lanes and a maximum speed limit of 120 km per hour. 18.4 km of the expressway was completed and opened to traffic Thursday.

The expressway, financed by Guangdong Provincial Expressways Co. Ltd and a Hong Kong Company, started construction in September 1997. It is expected to be completed and open to the public by December 2000.

The completion of the expressway will greatly promote the economy of Maoming, a well-known export trade center.
