Culture Beijing Hosts International Coin Exposition

The Beijing International Coin Exposition '99 opened in Beijing on November 11 morning at the China International Trade Center. This is the fifth international coin show held in China since 1995.

Sponsors said that the event aims to publicize Chinese culture, and promote exchanges of currency culture and minting techniques between China and other countries.

The total area of the exposition covers 5,500 square meters, with more than 70 dealers and mints from some 20 countries and regions participating.

A number of activities will be staged during the three-day show, including seminars on minting techniques, stamps and coin auctions and a special theme exhibition of coins.

The People's Bank of China has especially issued a silver panda coin for the occasion.
