Vice-Premier Wu Bangguo met with Ferdinand Piech, chairman of the board and president of Germany-based Volkswagen Corporation, and his party.

Wu expressed his appreciation for Volkswagen's efforts to conduct cooperation with China. He said he hopes that the two sides will make more efforts to improve the capability of research and development in their auto joint ventures, in order to meet the need of the Chinese market in the future.

Piech briefed Wu on the cooperation between his company and its Chinese counterparts.
