German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder gave a reception for more than 100 guests from both countries in a newly-launched German embassy complex in Beijing here today.

Schroeder in his brief speech hailed bilateral relationship as close and of mutual-trust. He acknowledged the great achievements China had scored since the start of its reforms and opening-up in the late 1970s and said that the route China takes is correct.
