China Official Meets Taiwan Delegation for Quake Relief

The mainland will offer its research and experience in dealing with earthquakes in a bid to help the people in Taiwan rebuild their homes, said Chen Yunlin, director of Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council.

Chen made this statement while meeting with a delegation from Taiwan. The delegation was the first of its kind to visit the mainland after a powerful earthquake devastated parts of Taiwan on September 21.

Exchanges between seismographers will hopefully reduce the impact of such natural disasters in the future, Chen added.

Chen donated a seismometer to the delegation on behalf of the Center of Seismology Across the Taiwan Straits.
