Business HP Reiterates Focus on China

Hewlett-Packard (HP) of the United States reiterated its strong commitment to the Chinese market last week during its top two leaders' visit to China, China Daily's Business Weekly reported October 31.

"We are in Beijing to reinforce our strong long-term relations with the local government and key customers and business partners," said HP Chairman Lewis Platt, who came to China with newly- appointed president and CEO Carly Fiorina.

Fiorina said the company is currently negotiating with the Ministry of Information Industry to establish a research and development center in China.

HP considered China an important part of its global strategy, and it witnessed one billion US dollars in sales last year in China. Fiorina hoped that HP could get another one billion in China within the next five years. (Xinhua).
