Li Ruihuan on City Planning 　　A top Chinese leader Saturday reiterated the importance of city planning, saying that it is an essential precondition for the successful building of modern cities. 　　Li Ruihuan, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the nation's highest consulting body, made the remark during his visit to Dalian, a scenic coastal city in northeast China's Liaoning Province, between October 26-30. 　　Li observed the city's traffic system, public buildings, environmental facilities, apartment compounds and economic and technological zones, accompanied by Liaoning's Party secretary, the provincial governor and the mayor of Dalian. 　　The CPPCC chairman urged leading officials to pay great attention to people's requirements for improving living conditions and make efforts to this end. 　　He stressed that Dalian should take full advantage of the city' s beautiful environment and convenient traffic network to improve the living standards of local residents.
