HK Launches Training for Inland Customs Officials
����The Hong Kong Customs and Excise Department October 20
launched a two-week training course on anti-smuggling and narcotics control for 14 inland
customs officials.
����The course is aimed at enhancing cooperation between
the customs of Hong Kong and the mainland.
����The 14 participants will attend lectures and visit
customs offices at the Hong Kong International Airport, Kwai Chung Container Terminal, Lo
Wu Control Point, Lok Ma Chau Control Point and the Marine patrol.
����At the last Annual Review Meeting in May this year, the
Guangdong Sub-Administration of the Customs General Administration of China and the Hong
Kong Customs and Excise Department agreed to enhance the staff training exchange program.
����The Hong Kong Customs and Excise Department will run
three similar courses each year and the next two courses will be held in mid-December this
year and mid-January 2000.
����Early this month, a 10-member delegation of the Hong
Kong Customs and Excise Department went to Shanghai for a training course and they will
return on October 23.
