China's GDP Growth to Exceed 7 Percent

  China's gross domestic product (GDP) will meet the growth target of 7 percent in 1999. According to the news released from an official at the ongoing National Economic Forum, the Chinese government in 1999 continued to pursue a policy of stimulating domestic demand and exerted itself to push forward various reforms steadily.

  Officials noted that China's GDP increased by 7.6 percent for the first half of this year, 0.6 percentage points higher than the same period of 1998.
