Chinese Premier Meets Environmental Advisors
Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji metin Beijing on October 20 with members of the China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development (CCICED), who are here participating in the council's third meeting.
Huguette Labelle, vice-president of the council and president of the Canadian International Development Agency, and other foreign members told the Chinese premier about their tour of China and put forward proposals.
Zhu thanked the council members for their suggestions, saying they will be helpful as China formulates a sustainable development policy which can well coordinate the environment, the economy, and society. He also informed the members of China's efforts in environmental and ecological protection.
The CCICED is a senior consulting organization founded in 1992 to explore well-coordinated paths of China's development for the Chinese government, and also increase China's cooperation with the international community in environment and development issues.
The third meeting, which opened Tuesday, will last until Thursday.
