Sports China Lose 1-0 in Olympic Qualifying

  China lost 1-0 to South Korea in the Group B opener of Asian Zone Olympic Qualifying tournament in Seoul on October 3.

  The Chinese team, which have yet to score a victory over their South Korean counterparts, had a goal disallowed in the first half.

  After the goalless first half, Zhang Yuning had a shot from close range but South Korean goal-keeper Kim Yong-Dae blocked the shot with his right leg.

  The sole goal of the match came in the 64th minute when Sin Byung-Ho headed home a free-kick. The header hit the crossbar and bounced into the net.

  The South Koreans took an upper hand in the second half and had several scoring chances.

  The second match between the two teams will be played on October 29 in Shanghai.

  The group also includes Bahrain. The winner of the group qualify for the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games. (Xinhua)
