National Day Activities Across China

　　Chinese participated in a variety of activities across the country to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Peoples Republic of China (PRC).

　　People in Harbin, the capital of Heilongjiang Province, attended a series of activities in streets and parks with artistic performances, games, sports, singing contests, and flower and lantern displays.

　　In Tianjin, the northern Chinese port city, buildings and houses have been decorated with bright flowers and colorful lights and thousands of local officials and people attended a number of programs like a flag-hoisting ceremony and celebration to express their hopes for a prosperous future for the motherland.

　　Nearly a million people in the city of Chongqing enjoyed a number of art exhibits and commercial fairs celebrating the country's development over the past 50 years.

　　Wide-ranging activities like photography shows, acrobatic performances, symphony concerts, choral contests, and ethnic customs were held in Fujian, Hubei, Guizhou, and Anhui provinces and in the Tibet Autonomous Region, attracting millions of people. (Xinhua)
