Xie Ties with Galliamova at World Women's Chess Championship

  On August 1, Xie Jun of China lost to Russian Alisa Galliamova at the third game of the world women's chess championship at Kosan on Saturday. Xie, who beat her opponent in the second game on Saturday and was held to a tie by Galliamova at the opening game on Friday, now draws with Galliamova in the total score.

  The championship, which is shared by China and Russia, will have its first eight games from July 29 to August 9 at Kosan and the next eight games from August 13 to 25 at Shengyang in the northeast of China.

  As is regulated by the FIDE, the chess world ruling body, either player who first collected 8.5 points will be the winner and the play-off is needed if both sides tie 8-all.
