Army Daily: We are a Force that Can Never be Defeated
The Liberation Army Daily on August 1 front-paged an editorial
titled, "We are a Force that Can Never be Defeated", to mark the 72nd founding
anniversary of the People 's Liberation Army (PLA).
The editorial pointed out that the PLA, under the absolute leadership of the Communist
Party of China (CPC) and equipped with scientific theories, is a strong pillar of the
people's democratic dictatorship.
The editorial stressed that the history of the past 72
years shows that the PLA is a steel "Great Wall" defending the motherland, and
is an invincible force.
The editorial said that the 72nd founding anniversary
of the PLA comes at a momentous period for the country's reform and army building.
The invasion of Kosovo sounded a warning that peace
does not yet prevail in all parts of the world, and the threat of war is still present.
At the same time, the editorial said, Lee Teng-hui's
recent remarks draw attention to the machinations of the splittist forces in Taiwan.
In addition, the PLA has an arduous task to maintain
social stability at a time when people of all walks of life are refuting the sinister
claims of the Falun Gong cult, an illegal organization, the editorial said.
The editorial stressed that the PLA will continue to be
led by the army-building theories of Mao Zedong and Deng Xiaoping, listing political
education as the top priority while reinforcing the armed forces with science and
technology.
