Zhang Jiajie To Hold Festival of International Forest Protection 　　Zhang Jiajie, a world-famous scenic spot in Hunan Province, will host the 1999's Festival of International Forest Protection from September 22 to 27 this year. The theme of the festival is "the combination of human and nature, and that of nature and culture". It is the first time for Hunan Province to hold such a large-scale activity that integrates ecological tourism, environmental protection technologies, folk-customs and local specialties into one. During the event, the state departments of tourism, environmental protection and forestry will exhibit new achievements gained in forest protection and ecological tourism. Besides the opening ceremony and theatrical performances, many colorful activities including news conference, seminars on ecological tourism and environmental protection and folk-customs and specialties of Zhang Jiajie will be arranged as well. 　　Sources from the organizing committee say that Zhang Jiajie is now making an all-out effort to improve the environment. Meanwhile, the city government will adopt preferential policies toward tourist groups and individuals. For example, exhibitors will be exempt from stalls fees, managerial fees and tax. 　　Established in 1998, Jiajie City is a burgeoning well-known scenic spot. Together with Tianzishan's and Suoxigu's nature reserves, it forms the scenic area of Wulinyuan. In December 1992, Wulingyuan scenic spot was included in list of world legacies by UNESCO.
