Chinese Embassy in US Refutes Lee Teng-hui's splittist remarks

The Chinese Embassy in the United States on July 21 held a news conference in Washington to refute Lee Teng-hui's splittist remarks.

Liu Xiaomin, a senior official in the embassy, said Lee's remarks is a provocation to the "one-China" principle commonly accepted over the world. It is doomed to failure. Liu expressed an affirmative view on White House's declaration that it would not support "Taiwan's independence". But he also urged US to reduce arms sale to Taiwan.
