China Won't Appeal On WWC Final
Though two possible mistakes by the Swiss referee have cost Chinese Women Soccer team the WWC championship, China Football Association (CFA) decides not to make an appeal to the FIFA.
In the first half of extra time, the Chinese Player Fan Yunjie may have won the game by a wonderful head ball. But Kristine Lily on the US side cleared it. Later further video analysis by some media organizations showed the ball was already in the net before it was cleared.
During the penalty kicks, the U.S goalkeeper Briana Scurry deliberately broke the role in saving a ball from Chinese player Liu Ying, which she herself admitted later to Los Angels Times. A goalkeeper can move only laterally along the goal line before a penalty kick, but Scurry moved forward two steps to make the save. But the referee did not stop it before 100,000 U.S fans.
Wang Junsheng, Vice-chairman of CFA, said the referee's verdict is final in a soccer game. We won't make an appeal, which is doomed to be a failure.
