50th Anniversary of Workers' Daily and Workers' Press
Wei Jianxing, president of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, congratulated the Workers' Daily and the Workers' Press on their 50th birthday July 15.
Worker's Daily has become an influential newspaper in China and enjoys great popularity among the people, Wei told a forum on the event.
The paper has done a good job in recognizing the thoughts and principles of outstanding workers, protecting workers' rights, and promoting trade unions, Wei said, adding that in the future it should carry more positive stories and cater to the needs of workers.
The paper should improve its role as an important publication of the Chinese Communist Party to guide workers movements and trade unions, he said.
He encouraged the press to provide more and better "spiritual food" to the working class and other common people and to make a contribution to building socialism with Chinese characteristics. (Xinhua)
