China-Portugal Center for History, Science Opens in Beijing ĦĦĦĦThe China-Portugal Center for History and Science opened in Beijing on June 16, aimed at promoting Sino-Portuguese and Sino-European cooperation in the field of science and technology. The inauguration ceremony was held at the Institute for the History of Natural Science attached to the Chinese Academy of Sciences, with the participation of Zhu Lilan, Chinese Minister of Science and Technology and Jose Mariano Gago, Portuguese Minister of Science and Technology. Cunha Rodrigues, Attorney-General of Portugal, also attended the ceremony. ĦĦĦĦScience and technology communication between Sino-Portugal can be dated back to the end of the 16th century, with a history of 400 years or more. The Center is set up in accordance with a cooperation agreement on science and technology signed by the two parties during Portuguese Premier's visit to China in April 1998.
