Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji Meets Kyrgyz FM
Premier Zhu Rongji said in a meeting with Kyrgyzstan Foreign Minister Muratbek Sansyzbayevich Yimanaliyev that China is willing to tap the potential of cooperation with Kyrgyzstan on May 26 in Beijing.
Zhu called Kyrgyzstan a friendly neighbor and said that promoting good-neighborly relations with surrounding countries is an important part of China's foreign policy.
There are many favorable conditions for neighboring countries to develop ties, Zhu said, and he expressed satisfaction with the present bilateral relations with Kyrgyzstan. But, he said, bilateral economic and trade cooperation is still not big enough.
Yimanaliyev extended his government's condolences for the casualties caused by the bombing of the Chinese Embassy in Yugoslavia and said that Kyrgyzstan attaches great importance to relations with China and that there is no obstacle in the way of developing relations between the two countries. He also said he hopes that China will become one of Kyrgyzstan's largest trading partners in the next century.
