IT Lecture Given to Government Officials
Professor Wang Xuan was invited April 26 to deliver a lecture on science and technology to government officials in the Zhongnanhai compound, including Vice-Premiers Li Lanqing and Wu Bangguo and other high-ranking officials.
Wang, the founder of laser printing technology in Chinese, focused on developments in the information industry and problems and opportunities facing China in this field.
Taking China's computer giant the Founder Group as an example, Prof. Wang spoke on new trends in computer development around the world, and pointed out several development opportunities and measures suitable for China. Wang, who is also an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, held that Chinese scientists urgently need to enhance their market awareness, while hi-tech enterprises should flex their muscle in the market by relying on technological creations, paying attention to the relationship between technology and the market, developing large numbers of high-level professionals, and investing in technological research.
The lecture, the second of its kind this year, was organized by the General Office of the State Council.
