Top Legislature Examines Seven Laws
Members of China's top legislative body, the Standing Committee of the Ninth National People's Congress (NPC), met April 26 to examine seven draft laws, a report and two bills.
Li Peng, chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, presided over the meeting yesterday morning in the Great Hall of the People.
Li Boyong, vice-chairman of the NPC Law Committee, delivered a report on the results of the deliberation of the draft law on administrative appeals.
Qiao Xiaoyang, also vice-chairman of the Law Committee, delivered a report on the results of examining a draft amendment to the Highway Law.
The Standing Committee will also examine five other draft laws concerning the prevention of juvenile delinquency, donations for public welfare, wholly-funded enterprises, public bidding and garrison troops to be stationed in the Macao Special Administrative Region.
In addition to the report on Chairman Li Peng's latest visits to Greece, Turkey, Syria, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Thailand, the four-day meeting will also deliberate two bills submitted by the State Council on a convention with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and Russia on maritime boundaries in the Tumen River and a Sino-Singaporean treaty involving judicial assistance in civil and commercial cases.
