Chinese Army, Police, Judiciary Urged To Transfer Enterprises to Localities
Hu Jintao, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, on April 26 urged the army, the armed police, and the judiciary to thoroughly sever their links with their enterprises as part of a national campaign against corruption.
Hu, also a member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, said that smooth progress has been made by the army and armed police divisions as well as judiciary departments in halting their business activities and cutting off their ties with enterprises.
However, there are concrete and complicated procedures that must be followed through in order to completely transfer the enterprises to the localities, he said, adding that in some localities, this is very difficult to deal with.
He called on the army, the armed police and the judiciary departments to pay special attention to possible incidents of bribery, dereliction of duty, peculation of state assets, and other offenses which may occur in the process of transferring the enterprises to the localities.
He urged the army, the armed police and judiciary departments to fully appreciate their cutting off links with their enterprises, a move which has won strong support from the masses.
Hu spoke at a meeting attended by the leaders of the cities of Beijing and Shanghai, and Hebei, Liaoning, Shanxi and five other provinces, and leaders of the army, the armed police and judiciary departments.
