BEIJING, May 22 -- China's transportation sector performed stably in April, with passenger numbers and cargo volume both increasing from a year earlier, official data showed on Thursday.
The number of trips by rail, road and water reached 3.37 billion last month, up 5.1 percent from April 2013, said Li Yang, spokesman for the Ministry of Transport.
And the volume of freight transported by these three means hit 3.83 billion tonnes, up 7.4 percent year on year, Li said at a press conference.
