China rolled out the first domestically produced regional passenger jets for delivery next year in Shanghai on Monday. Two ARJ21-700s will be delivered to Chengdu Airlines and begin business operations in early 2015.
Timeline of ARJ21 regional jet’s development:
November 2000: China decided to independently develop regional jet in line with international airworthiness regulations.
December 2003: Chinese aircraft makers began to produce parts of ARJ21 jet.
December 2007: The first stereotype of ARJ21 completed assembly in Shanghai.
November 2008: The first ARJ21 successfully flew in Shanghai.
July 2009: ARJ21 entered scientific and airworthiness test stage.
April 2012: ARJ21 began tests for certification issued by Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC).
November 30, 2013: Two ARJ21-700s rolled off assembly line in Shanghai and will be delivered to Chengdu Airlines in 2014.
