A survey conducted by zhaopin.com, a well-known job website in China, reveals the level of wages in different cities of China. Shanghai white-collars rank in first place with a monthly salary of $1,156, with Beijing and Shenzhen second and third with monthly salaries of $1,114 and $1,093, followed by cities from southeast China such as Ningbo, Hangzhou, and Guangzhou.
The survey also shows the overall index of job supply and demand in China's talent market in spring of 2014 was 45.2, which means one job offer will receive an average of 45.2 applications. Shenzhen, Beijing and Suzhou are the three cities with the highest indexes - 71.1, 64.1 and 61.1 respectively, while Kunming, Ningbo and Fuzhou have the lowest.
According to the survey, the top three most competitive job categories in 2014 are accounting, audit and tax related services, IT quality management, and software and Internet development. Competition is extremely tough for jobs in the field of accounting, auditing and taxation - almost 100 candidates competing for each position available. The three least sought after jobs are medical services, investment management, and education.
