Friis Arne Petersen, Danish ambassador to China, talked about his views about China's environment pollution, economic development and urbanization at a press conference Monday in Beijing.

The press conference was held in Danish Embassy to answer the questions related to China's "two sessions".

Promising is that Chinese government declares war on pollution

"China faces great challenges and complicated problems in pushing forward its economic and social reforms," the ambassador said. "Many problems are in financial sector, banking sector and macroeconomic control and the issues are related to air pollution, how to conserve energy and reduce emission."

"But promising is Chinese premier Li Keqiang declares war on pollution with the same energy as on poverty reduction. This brings the government efforts to curb environmental pollution to the same level of poverty reduction."

China gives more priority to private sector

Petersen said that Chinese Premier Li Keqiang emphasizes focusing on boosting consumption. He said that China's investment-driven and export-driven growth model is on the way to transform into consumption-driven growth model, which means the change from quantity to quality.

China gives more place and priority to private sector, he added.

The tasks to solve issues related to urbanization are impressive.

For the three tasks in the government work report - granting urban residency to around 100 million rural people who have moved to cities, rebuilding rundown city areas and villages inside cities where around 100 million people live, and guiding the urbanization of around 100 million rural residents of the central and western regions in cities there, he said, "Given the size of population and complexity of the problem, the tasks are impressive."

Wide range of fields for cooperation between China and Denmark

Peterson said China and Denmark can cooperage in many fields such as economy, energy, environmental pollution control and anti-corruption. China and Denmark can conduct cooperation not only in the fields of energy-saving, wind energy but also in other areas.
