BEIJING, May 9 -- China on Friday welcomed the evaluation and suggestions by the UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights on implementing the international rights covenant.
The UN committee concluded a review of China's second report on implementing the covenant on Thursday. Chinese ambassador to the United Nations office in Geneva Wu Hailong took part in the deliberation.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said the committee spoke positively of China's efforts and recognized policies and measures were made in accordance with national conditions.
The Chinese delegation responded to some 110 questions regarding the economy, society and culture, said the spokeswoman.
China welcomes the committee's positive evaluation of China's progress, and will study their opinions and suggestions in making policy, she added.
China submitted the second implementation report in 2010.
