ACCRA, May 7 -- An expert in International Relations on Wednesday lauded China's contribution to the development of Africa, saying Chinese Premier Li Keqiang's visit to some African countries will strengthen relations with Africa and consolidate the vision for the continent.

Dr. Vladimir Antwi-Danso, a senior lecturer at the Legon Center for International Affairs and Diplomacy (LECIAD), University of Ghana, said Li's African visit would afford China the opportunity to see if it could help Africa in one way or the other.

"Africa should prepare itself for China," he stressed.

He said African countries had a lot to learn from China's economic transformation, saying Chinese investment on the continent was high, counseling African leaders to meet China halfway.

The Chinese premier is scheduled to attend the 2014 World Economic Forum on Africa and meet African leaders in Nigerian capital Abuja, during his four-nation Africa tour on May 4-11.

The China-Africa relations have grown more vigorously since 2000 when the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) was established to further bilateral cooperation.
