JOHANNESBURG, April 14 -- The Chinese community in South Africa held a ceremony on Sunday to support the African National Congress (ANC) in the coming general election.
Li Xinzhu, the head of African Council for the Promotion of Peaceful Reunification of China, said that the diplomatic and economic relationships between China and South Africa have been improved greatly under the leadership of ANC, and Chinese community has been growing greatly with the prosperity in the country.
Naledi Pandor, South African Minister of Home Affairs, gave a speech about the legacy of Mandela and the social-economic achievement in South Africa under the leadership of ANC, and showed her gratitude to the great work of Chinese team and ANC team for the event at Germiston Civic Center.
Wu Shaokang, the head of South Africa Chinese Community and Police Cooperation Center, gave a speech about the problems that the ANC should pay attention to, including the highway robbery of Chinese businessmen, blackmail by police officers to Chinese people, and visa related immigration red-tape.
Minister of State Security, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology, other South Africa officers and about 400 representatives of Chinese community attended the ceremony to show their support for ANC in this year's general election.
