BEIJING, May 6 -- Chinese Vice Premier Wang Yang urged more targeted efforts in poverty alleviation during his inspection tour to southern China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region from Sunday to Tuesday.
Focusing on poverty relief and agriculture, the vice premier visited several counties in Guangxi, including at least two key counties for poverty relief.
"Helping impoverished areas out of poverty is an arduous task in China's drive to build a moderately prosperous society," Wang said.
Wang urged those key counties to raise the efficiency of poverty relief through diverse means, including labor transfer, specialized planting and breeding, as well as developing rural tourism.
China has made poverty relief a priority in evaluating the work of officials in poor counties, according to a guideline unveiled in January.
