BEIJING, March 21 -- China will enhance environmental monitoring of the Diaoyu Islands in the East China Sea and Sansha in the South China Sea, the State Oceanic Administration (SOA) said Friday.
Coastal monitoring stations nationwide will intensify the surveillance of marine ecological environment, the SOA said in a statement.
China officially set up the city of Sansha to administer three island groups -- Xisha, Zhongsha and Nansha -- and their surrounding waters in 2012.
The SOA vowed to make more efforts to improve its warning system of marine pollution or other disasters, including oil spills, red tides or radioactive contamination at sea.
