BEIJING, March 7 -- A senior political advisor in central China's Hubei Province has been expelled from the Communist Party of China (CPC) and removed from public office for suspected dereliction of duty and taking bribes, the CPC's discipline agency said on Friday.

Chen Baihuai formerly served as vice chairman of the Hubei Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.

Investigation showed that he violated rules to approve subordinate units to illegally transfer rights to use state-owned land to property companies, the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) said in a statement.

Chen also used his position to seek profit for others, and accepted a large amount of money or property either himself or through his relatives, according to the statement, which described him as morally corrupt.

The former political advisor's conduct was a serious violation of disciplines and involves suspected crimes, according to the CCDI, which added that Chen's case will be transferred to judicial organs.

His expulsion from the CPC and removal from public office have been endorsed by the CPC Central Committee.

The CCDI announced its investigation into Chen in November.
